じゃ、佐さ藤とうさん、23ページの10行ぎょう目めから24ページの5行ぎょう目めまで読よんでみてください。

Ms. Yamamoto (Teacher): Alright, Sato, can you read from line 10 on page 23 through line 5 on page 24?

佐藤（学生）

はい。

Sato (Student): Yes.

英えい語ごを読よみます（Sato reads the English passage）

鈴すず木きさん「Practice makes Perfect」の意い味みがわかりますか。

Ms. Yamamoto (Teacher): Nice job, that was well read. Suzuki, do you know what “Practice makes perfect” means?

鈴木（学生）

はい。「継けい続ぞくは力ちからなり」という意い味みです。

Suzuki (Student): Yes, it means “Continuing effort leads to success.”

山本（教師）

そうですね。よくできました！
このクラスの中なかで、来らい月げつ英えい検けんを受うける人ひとはいますか？

Ms. Yamamoto (Teacher): That’s right! Well done. Now, is anyone in this class planning to take the Eiken test next month?

佐藤（学生）

はい！
来らい月げつ英えい検けん2級きゅうを受うけるつもりです。
先せん月げつ受うけたんですが、不ふ合ごう格かくだったんです。
なので、来らい月げつは絶ぜっ対たい合ごう格かくしたいです！

Sato (Student): Yes! I’m planning to take the Eiken Grade 2 next month. I took it last month, but I didn’t pass. So this time, I really want to pass!

山本（教師）

Ms. Yamamoto (Teacher): Good luck! You can do it!

Sato (Student): Thank you!

僕ぼくはアメリカの大だい学がくに入にゅう学がくしたいので、TOEFL試し験けんに申もうし込こみました。

Inoue (Student): I’ve signed up for the TOEFL because I want to study at a university in the U.S.

大和（学生）

へー！すごい！。

Yamato (Student): Whoa, that’s awesome!

井上（学生）

「YOLO」だからね！

Inoue (Student): YOLO, you know!

大和（学生）

「YOLO」って何なに？

Yamato (Student): YOLO? What’s that?

井上（学生）

「You Only Live Once」！
「人じん生せいは一いち度ど切きり！」って意い味みだよ！

Inoue (Student): It means “You Only Live Once!” Like, you only get one life!

大和（学生）

なるほどね！
僕ぼくは英えい語ごは苦にが手てだなあ。
単たん語ごを覚おぼえてもすぐに忘わすれちゃうんだよ。

Yamato (Student): Ah, got it! I’m really bad at English, though. Even when I memorize vocabulary, I forget it so fast.

佐藤（学生）

「Practice　makes Perfect」でしょ！
あきらめたら終おわわりだよ！
自じ分ぶんを信しんじて頑がん張ばらないと！

Sato (Student): That’s why we say “Practice makes perfect”! If you give up, it’s over. You’ve gotta believe in yourself and keep trying!

山本（教師）

Yamato (Student): Ms. Yamamoto, I just can’t seem to improve my pronunciation. What should I do?

山本（教師）

教きょう科か書しょのCDの発はつ音おんを聞ききながら、CDの発はつ音おん通どおりに発はつ音おんすれば上じょう手ずになりますよ。

Ms. Yamamoto (Teacher): Try listening to the CD that comes with the textbook, and copy the pronunciation exactly as you hear it. That’ll help a lot.

Tanaka (Student): I’m not good at listening.

1いち日にち10分ぷんでもいいので、毎まい日にち聞きくことが大たい切せつです。
