Ex.: 私わたしは父ちちのような立りっ派ぱな医い者しゃになりたいです。

Rm.: Watashi wa chichi no youna rippa na isha ni naritai desu.

En.: I want to become a great doctor like my father.

Ex.: 彼かの女じょは猫ねこのような目めをしています。

Rm.: Kanojo wa neko no you na me o shite imasu.

En.: She has cat-like eyes.

Grammar Explanation: like ~ (used when modifying verbs, i-adjectives, and na-adjectives)

Ex.: 私わたしは鳥とりのように空そらを飛とびたいです。

Rm.: Watashi wa tori no you ni sora o tobitai desu.

En.: I want to fly through the sky like a bird.

Ex.: 彼かの女じょの目めは宝ほう石せきのように美うつくしいです。

Rm.: Kanojo no me wa houseki no you ni utsukushii desu.

En.: Her eyes are beautiful like jewels.

Ex.: 彼かれは悪あく魔まのように邪じゃ悪あくです。

Rm.: Kare wa akuma no you ni jaaku desu.

En.: He is evil like the devil.

Grammar Explanation: like ~ (used at the end of a sentence)

Ex.: この雪ゆきは綿わたのようです。

Rm.: Kono yuki wa wata no you desu.

En.: This snow is like cotton.

「まmaるruでde」は陳ちん述じゅつ副ふく詞しで、「まmaるruでde~よyoうuでdeすsu」の形かたちで用もちいられ、比ひ喩ゆ表ひょう現げんを強きょう調ちょうします。

“まるで” is an adverb used in the pattern “まるで~ようです” (just like ~ / as if ~) to emphasize figurative expressions.

Ex.: この犬いぬはまるでぬいぐるみのようです。

Rm.: Kono inu wa marude nuigurumi no you desu.

En.: This dog looks just like a stuffed toy.
