Grammar Explanation: Which one ~? (Choose one of the two options)

Ex.: ほんせいはどちら(どっち)ですか。

Rm.: Nihon-sei wa dochira (dotchi) desu ka.
En.: Which one is made in Japan?

Ex.: ひだりのです。

Rm.: Hidari no desu.
En.: The one on the left.

Ex.: ほんこっはどちら(どっち)ですか。

Rm.: Nihon no kokki wa dochira (dotchi) desu ka.
En.: Which one is the Japanese flag?

Ex.: みぎのです。

Rm.: Migi no desu.
En.: The one on the right.

Ex.: あなたのいえはどちら(どっち)ですか。

Rm.: Anata no ie wa dochira (dotchi) desu ka.

Rm.: Nihon-sei no kaban wa dore desu ka.

Rm.: Ichiban ninki ga aru aisukurimu wa dore desu ka.

「どちら(どっち)」はせんたく2つふたつあい、「どれ」はせんたくが3つじょうあるあい使つかいます。

“どちら(どっち)” is used when there are two options, while “どれ” is used when there are three or more options.

「どっち」はすこしくだけたかたで、ぞくともだちしたしいひととのかい使つかいます。「どちら」は「どっち」のていねいかたで、うえひと、おきゃくさま、あまりしたしくないひとなどに使つかいます。

“どっち” is a more casual expression used in conversations with family, friends, and people you are close to.“どちら” is the more polite form of “どっち” and is used when speaking to superiors, customers, or people you are not very familiar with.
